R&B music has a place in my hear

R&B has found a place in my heart. It's become part of my daily life. R&B music has grown to become a part of who I really am.

When I was 13, I was still discovering what I was interested in. My older brother put me onto music. I had first listened to “Best Part” by Daniel Caesar, a R&B artist. The tune and melody that flows perfectly with the lyrics throughout the song was what I really enjoyed and is why I started to discover more on music similar to this.

Music would start to become a major part of my life. I started listening to music all the time. I started noticing it bringing out different parts of me.

I can listen to all sorts of R&B subgenres. I love Caesar because his music is influenced by gospel and soul but he also combines them with R&B, producing albums like “Freudian” and “NEVER ENOUGH”.

I believe R&B brings out the best instrumentals, lyrics, and mood in music. A good example is Frank Ocean. He brings the mood of nostalgia and love with his tunes and melodies.

Ocean is also a good example of how emotional R&B artists can get, whether it's singing out loud or crying along to the music. I am not ashamed to say that I have cried when listening to a song of his, and I know I am not alone. It’s not just the lyrics. Even the instrumentals in R&B songs give me all sorts of feelings.

An article in Strike Magazine unravels the symbolism in Ocean’s songs, showing the different meanings of love, childhood, and his personal journey found within his music.

Although I am open to any kind of music, I feel most comforted when listening to R&B. There are times when I am jamming out but also times where I could cry to certain songs. Either way I am able to find a song that fits the mood I am in.

The genre's wide variety of subgenres bring me all sorts of listening, their instrumentals, beats, lyrics and artists makes up for why I enjoy this genre of music.

In an article from Social Star, they talk about the connection between teenagers and music, informing us about how music influences teenagers through the emotional and social aspect. Music shapes identity for teenagers, allowing teenagers to discover their interest, values and purpose.

I still find myself enjoying the music of classic R&B, such as Usher, Aaliyah and 702. Many people have different tastes in music but what matters most is how we enjoy listening to the music that we love the most.
