Peterson family member continues musical legacy with song of hope
A Northside musician from a famous musical family is bringing a message of healing and hope to the world with the release of a new song.
“Love Can Heal the World,” written and performed by Jason Peterson DeLaire, is the second single in a trilogy meant to amplify his mission of promoting love and unity through song. This single is Peterson DeLaire’s response to the civil unrest, and the crime and violence within his North Minneapolis community and various neighborhoods around the Twin Cities and country.
In delivering this message, DeLaire has collaborated with The Steeles and The Petersons (both families are inductees to the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame) and the song features vocal performances from Grammy nominated Oleta Adams, Rockie Robbins, and Jarrod Lawson. The track also includes an ensemble band, The Capri Glee, Adult Community Choir of North Minneapolis, and is co-produced by DeLaire and Ricky Peterson (Fleetwood Mac, Prince, George Benson).
To more broadly share this message of love and healing, DeLaire partnered with Rock the Cause, a non-profit based in the Twin Cities. Fifty percent of the proceeds from the campaign will be contributed to music programs that serve underprivileged youth in Minneapolis, and independent music venues across the Twin Cities that are struggling to survive due to the worldwide pandemic.
“‘Love Can Heal the World’ is great and the vocal performances are stellar,” said Michael Bolton of the song. “(It’s) a perfect message at this time, delivered with class and soul.”
“Love Can Heal the World” releases Feb. 5 on multiple streaming platforms. To donate, a GoFundMe has been set up at www.gofundme.com/f/love-can-heal-the-world-community-building.
